Teaching and Learning
My personal journey has strengthened my resolve that every child has a unique means of understanding the world—a factor which makes education such an extraordinary field. I believe that education is about much more than just test scores or letter grades – it is about setting children up to believe in and challenge themselves. I am dedicated to enabling all children to reach their full potentials, and in my classroom, students will discover who they are and who they will become without limits or hesitation.
I believe that the single most important factor in the learning process is establishing a supportive and caring relationship with my students. Only from this position of caring, in which my students’ well-being and learning are at the heart of my interest, will my students trust in me, our relationship, and fully involve themselves in their learning.
Teaching in a virtual setting has only emphasized the strategic, flexible, and recursive nature of teaching. This experience has helped me become a more productive and confident teacher. My ability to design and deliver effective lessons that meet the range of instructional needs of all my students has greatly improved in the last few months. I have learned the importance of combining content and pedagogical knowledge, as well as formative assessment data on student learning, to my thorough understanding of the individual needs in order to effectively adapt lessons and differentiate my instruction. Furthermore, I have grown in my ability to evaluate my instructional effectiveness and recognize when it is time to "try another way."
When I teach and design lessons, I collaborate with colleagues to confirm the use of flexible grouping arrangements and instructional methods to deliver instruction which varies in intensity level and is differentiated based on individual learning needs. This includes the use of teacher- led practices such as explicit instruction to accommodate unique learning styles, and provide quality education in a vibrant and diverse classroom. As an elementary and special education teacher, I hope to positively influence long-term outcomes by changing doubtful mindsets into determined conviction.
To provide a tangible showcase of my work, I’ve included a portfolio of my most recent projects. Take a moment to explore below, and reach out if you’re interested in learning more!
